  31. I believe the point Ace was trying to make, and I agree with, is why are end
  32. users being forced to pay a higher price for LW solely because it's an SGI
  33. version, and an incomplete one at that.

  35. As for wondering how much other high end packages cost, you know they are
  36. more expensive, that is one of LW strongest attributes, and if you look at
  37. what SoftImage is charging for their NT version, it is comparable to their SGI.

  39. It was this same kind of platform price difference that lead to PIXAR's
  40. decision to stop selling MacRenderMan which could be bought for $75, whereas
  41. a UNIX user would pay $3,500 for RenderMan. (See "Rendering Realities" in
  42. the April issue of Digital Video Magazine)
